About Me – UK Pencil Portrait Artist

Hello! I’m Angela, a UK-based pencil portrait artist living in sunny Milton Keynes. I create hand-drawn pencil portraits from photos, capturing the character and emotion behind every subject.

About Angela

My name’s Angela, and I’m a 50-something pencil portrait artist who’s been drawing professionally for over fifteen years. I live in Milton Keynes with my husband and our two grown-up children – a boy and a girl.

When I’m not sketching, you’ll usually find me at the gym, recharging with a Diet Coke (or occasionally a nice glass of wine in the evening!).

I’ve always loved drawing, and becoming a pencil portrait artist has allowed me to combine my passion for detail with my love of people and stories. Whether it’s a family portrait, a pet drawing or a landscape, I take pride in turning your photographs into meaningful works of art that can be treasured for years to come.

So whatever you’d like on your wall, just let me know – I’ll do my best to draw it for you.

My Pencil Portrait Artist Gallery

Since becoming a full-time pencil portrait artist, I’ve drawn over 2,000 pencil portraits for customers across the UK and beyond. Each piece is unique and hand-drawn with care, capturing the likeness, emotion and personality of every subject.

Here are just a few examples of my work as a pencil portrait artist:

The Inspiration Behind Pencil Sketch Portraits

My journey as a pencil portrait artist started quite by accident. I’d always loved art and studied it at college, but life got busy and I didn’t draw for years.

Then, one birthday, my husband bought me a sketchpad and some pencils. I decided to draw our one-year-old son, and when I showed it to a friend, she loved it so much that she asked me to draw her child too.

From there, everything grew naturally. I discovered how much I loved capturing people in pencil – the emotion, the fine detail, the expression – all the things that make being a pencil portrait artist so rewarding.

Eventually, I set up Pencil Sketch Portraits so I could share my drawings with others who love the timeless charm of hand-drawn portrait art.

My Pencil Portrait Artist Style and Approach

As a pencil portrait artist, I’d describe my drawings as photo-realistic pencil portraits with soft shading and fine detail. I mainly work in graphite pencil, though I occasionally use coloured pencils for a warmer look.

I draw a wide variety of subjects, including:

  • People: babies, families, couples, and even celebrities
  • Animals: pets like dogs, cats and horses, as well as wildlife such as lions, tigers and birds
  • Vehicles: cars, lorries, motorbikes, planes and boats
  • Buildings & Landscapes: homes, churches, landmarks and favourite places

Each portrait is hand-drawn from your photo with care and precision. My goal as a pencil portrait artist is to capture not just how someone looks, but who they are – the spark, expression and emotion that make each subject unique.
